Empress is looking for a training specialist to serve in our Empress South division in Yonkers. The training specialist has the authority to act as delegated by the assistant director of education and the director of operations. The role is focused on coordinating activities related to the New York State Department of Health BEMS (Bureau of EMS) sponsorship and American Heart Association trainings as well as internal and external medical education programs. Duties include scheduling, coordinating, record keeping, inventory control, and program instruction.

Documentation of New York State Certified Lab Instructor (NYS CLI) certification and American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification is also required by Jan. 23.
To be considered, candidates must have knowledge of:

• Pre-hospital and interfacility patient care practices and techniques
• Principles, practices, and techniques used in pre-hospital emergency medical treatment and management of interfacility patient transportation
• Trends, developments and practices in emergency medical services
• Practices, equipment, and techniques used in the emergency treatment of a variety of injuries and illnesses.
• State, regional, and local regulations, guidelines, and protocols governing EMS operation within the assigned area
• Emergency vehicle operations and safety practices
• Customer service principles and practices
Skills needed:
• Oral and written communication in English
• The performance of emergency medical care and treatment in New York State for pre-hospital certification levels of field operations employees
• Standard techniques used for training and remediation of pre-hospital healthcare professionals
• Basic computer skills

Training and experience requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• New York State Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services certification as an EMT or paramedic
• NYS DOH BEMS (New York State Department of Health Bureau of EMS) Certified Lab Instructor credential
• American Heart Association instructor certification preferred and must be obtained within one year of appointment
General experience:
• At least three years of experience in direct patient care, including emergency medical treatment and the provision of care during interfacility transport
• Preferred but not required: One year of experience in training and education of emergency services
