As the premier provider of 911 emergency medical response for the cities of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Yorktown, Pelham, Poughkeepsie, Mount Vernon, White Plains and the Bronx as well as other municipalities in the Hudson Valley counties of Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester, Empress EMS provides exceptional care during a tremendous range of emergencies. Employing some of the most capable and experienced individuals in the business, Empress handles more than 50,000 transports a year.

Our spectrum of services include Basic Life Support (BLS) — a commitment to providing premier after-care transportation from hospitals, healthcare facilities and residences. Each BLS ambulance is staffed by two New York State certified Emergency Medical Technicians who make it a top priority to ensure patients are comfortable physically as well as mentally during transport. Patients who require routine transports will receive a full assessment at the initiation of transport and will be closely monitored until the completion of the trip.

Empress paramedics provide the highest-level critical care to patients requiring transport. Our top priority is ensuring our paramedics have state-of-the-art technology and training internally and with hospital staff.

Empress Critical Care Paramedics (CCP-C) are master-level paramedics certified by International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) who provide transport and care for the most critically ill patients with experience working in pre-hospital, inter-hospital and hospital environments.

Empress was a pioneer in the concept of the fly car, establishing the first paramedic system in northern Westchester in 1993. Designed as SUV-type vehicles with a full complement of Advanced Life Support equipment, fly cars are staffed by New York State Certified Paramedics. The vehicles are used for 911 emergencies and can provide Advanced Life Support when needed. Currently, Empress operates Advanced Life Support fly cars in several districts.

Our Community Paramedicine / Mobile Integrated Healthcare Units have won multiple awards for patient-centered programs and services. Both programs have also positively impacted thousands of patients’ lives. The success has given Empress the opportunity to conduct thousands of patient interventions, preventing unnecessary hospital visits.

The Empress EMS TEMS (Tactical Emergency Medical Services) Team is dedicated to providing high-quality, mission-ready medical support for law enforcement and tactical operations. Our team enhances operational safety by delivering rapid, evidence-based emergency medical care in high-risk environments. Through continuous training, collaboration, and innovation, we ensure optimal patient outcomes while supporting the operational effectiveness of our partner agencies. Our motto is Medicina Bona, Locis Malis, which is Latin for “Good medicine in bad places.”

For Empress, our top priority is ensuring that our paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians receive comprehensive training, including Field Rotations, which give them first-hand experience before they are released to the team. As the premier mobile medical service organization, Empress has hosted and trained thousands of EMS students from local schools, other states and even internationally. With our assistance, students receive the necessary credits for continuing medical education within the EMS field.
